In a report by Oscar Oida on GMA News, “Sumbungan ng Bayan” on “24 Oras,” it was said that the victim, Janine Mallari, suffered from being separated from her two-year-old son.

But she could not stand the mistreatment of her employer and ended up drinking chemical bleach and being hospitalized.

The photo shows Mallari’s leg with burns and bruises.

“Yung amo kong babae, ayaw na kinakausap ko yung pamilya ko, anak ko po. Ayaw niya po na may pahinga… nung nagpabalik po ako ng agency binalik din po ako ng agency don sa amo ko. Ayaw po nila akong i-change employer,” said Mallari.

Before the incident, Mallari allegedly asked his agency PHILAMASIA Labor Pool to help him find another employer, but nothing happened.

She stayed at the staff house of its agency counterpart in Riyadh for almost a month.

It was here that Mallari’s case was referred to the Philippine Overseas Employment Administration (POEA), and it was discovered that her agency did not report what happened to the OFW.

Meanwhile, the PHILAMASIA Labor Pool denied Mallari’s allegation that they were negligent.
