A 39-year-old single mother has been unknowingly carrying around a winning lottery ticket in her worn-out shoulder bag for the past six months.

The women was about to give her old shoulder bag to a friend, and decided to clean it out, discovering the 6/45 Mega Lotto ticket from May 13.

The Filipina mother originally bought the ticket at a Davao City mall and put it in a secret pocket inside her bag.

The unidentified woman claimed her share of a 17.8-million peso jackpot that was won by three individuals – her share totals 5.9-millions pesos in all.

She told Philippine Charity Sweepstakes officials that she was unaware the she won the jackpot until she brought the ticket to a lotto outlet for verification – it was only then did she know she had won after the machine notified her as a winner.

Sweepstakes officials told her she was lucky to have cleaned out her shoulder bag as the ticket would have expired in one year.

She told officials that she took the winning combination from the birth-dates of her three children and she had been betting the combination for the past several years.

The Filipina told lottery officials that she plans to expand her mobile phone accessories business and save much of the rest of her children’s future.
