A 22-year-old female suspect in the murder of her cousin Absalon in Masbate City on June 6 is in police custody.
According to the Bicol PNP, the woman was arrested in Brgy. Cabungahan in Cawayan town on Tuesday on an arrest warrant for murder.
The suspect is said to be the daughter of a “Manong/Julio,” a high-ranking member of a rebel group that focused on the operation in Masbate.
The whereabouts of others involved in the said crime are still being sought.
“Nais rin naming ipaabot ang aming pasasalamat sa miyembro ng komunidad sa walang humpay na pakikipagugnayan sa ating mga kapulisan upang maresolba ang mga isyung katulad nito,” said Bicol PNP director Police Brig. Gen. Jonnel Estomo.
“Ang pagbibigay ninyo ng impormasyon sa ating mga himpilan ang isang patunay ng inyong pakikiisa upang mabigayan ng katarungan ang mga naulilang biktima ng mga taong ito.”
In an official statement issued by the school’s division office in Bicol, it clarified that the arrested suspect is a teacher applicant and not yet a teacher.

But police maintained that the suspect was a teacher and was currently teaching at an elementary school in Cawayan.
The Communist Party of the Philippines-New People’s Army (CPP-NPA) recently admitted its involvement in the deaths of football player Kieth Absalon and his cousin Nolven.
According to authorities, the cousins died due to the landmine explosion and bullet wounds.
The government and the Commission of Human Rights condemned the cousin’s death and called on the NPA to surrender the members involved in the tragedy. But the rebel group did not approve.
President Duterte has promised to bring justice to the deaths of cousins Kieth Absalon, a football player of Far Eastern University, and Nolven Absalon.
Presidential Spokesman Harry Roque said the President would investigate and hold accountable the people behind the murder of Absalon cousins.
Roque asserted that the crime against the international community was committed against the cousin, so the Palace strongly condemns it.
