Female driver assaults traffic enforcer in Manila

A female driver who was caught on video hurting a traffic enforcer in Manila is facing complaints.

Cedric Castillo told GMA News “24 Oras” on Thursday that the incident happened at the intersection of Osmeña Highway and Estrada St. in Malate.

In the police report, it was said that the woman who was driving the SUV violated the traffic signal, so the enforcer of the Manila Traffic and Parking Bureau (MTPB) stopped her.

But instead of stopping, the motorist allegedly continued to drive, so he chased after him.

When caught, she was asked for a license. But the woman allegedly did not have a license, so the traffic enforcer took the OR/CR ​​of the vehicle.

The woman was angry when the OR/CR ​​was not returned to her, so she insisted on taking it from the enforcer.

The woman can be seen shouting and slapping the enforcer in the video as she tries to take the OR/CR ​​role.

When the female driver entered the vehicle, she even grabbed the enforcer in uniform and kept shouting.

In the viral video on social media, there was even a chance that the woman kicked the enforcer.

Because of what happened, the woman will face complaints that have not yet agreed about what happened.

In a Facebook post at the Manila Public Information Office, it was said that the woman was taken to the Manila Police District-SMaRT precinct.

The female driver was charged with direct assault and driving without a license.

The penalty for driving without a license in the Philippines is a hefty PHP 3,000. This driving without license fine also applies to having a delinquent, expired, suspended, revoked, improper, or fake driver’s license.

Meanwhile, the Revised Penal Code (Article 148) imposes the penalty of imprisonment of prision correccional in its medium and maximum periods and a fine not exceeding 1,000 pesos upon anyone who commits the crime of direct assault when, as in these cases, the offender lays hands upon a person in authority.
