The father and cousin of an 11-year-old girl allegedly took turns in raping her in Sto. Niño, Cagayan, Tuesday.

According to reports, the Department of Social Welfare and Development took the victim under the name “Remedios” to their custody.

The victim’s grandmother sought help from the police after she learned about the rape that happened.

Remedios said her 16-year-old cousin first raped her in 2017. She also said her father forced her to have sex with him starting 2018.

The child victim said the two suspects alternately and continuously raped her every Saturday when she had no classes in school.

It was learned that the victim’s mother was an Overseas Filipino Worker (OFW).

The victim already filed a criminal case against her own father and cousin at the Provincial Prosecutor’s Office in Tuao, Cagayan.

Father arrested for raping daughter ’50 times’

Just last month, authorities arrested a man for allegedly raping his 13-year old daughter ’50 times’ in the last five years in Agusan, Cagayan de Oro City.

Police named the suspect as “Gilbert,” 39 years old. Gilbert later admitted he had raped his minor daughter since she was only eight years old.

Police Station 6 chief Captain Mario Mantala said that the suspect might have raped his own child 50 times.

According to the Center for Women’s Resources (CWR) records, one child is raped every hour in the Philippines as of 2017. The issue of rape in the Philippines is an ongoing battle cry for women’s rights.
