Father burns son’s remains due to lack of budget for burial

A father in Butuan City burned the body of his deceased son because he did not have the money to bury him, according to a report in Unang Balita on Monday.

Authorities found out what Rolando Casipong did after his two other children reported it.

According to the two children, their disabled mother even helped with the cremation and burial of the corpse.

The father admitted to the cremation. His son died at the age of 24 due to an illness.

Casipong defended, they were just poor so he was forced to burn the child’s body.

The siblings decided not to sue their father.


10-year-old boy hacked to death by drunk neighbor

Meanwhile, a 10-year-old boy died after being hacked at his nape by his neighbor in Davao City, Ivan Mayrnia reported in “24 Oras Weekend.”

According to the victim’s father, the suspect, identified as Francisco Yap, managed to hack the victim in the nape. The 52-year-old suspect was drunk at the time.

When the authorities arrived at the suspect’s house, the man allegedly approached the police.

As a result, they were forced to shoot the suspect. The suspect died after being taken to the hospital.

Authorities obtained suspected marijuana from the suspect.

4 dead in multicab ambush

Four people died immediately after they were ambushed and shot while riding in a multicab in Brgy. Tulunan, Datu Anggal Midtimbang in Maguindanao, Saturday afternoon.

The victims were identified as Heredin Kanakan of Brgy. Sta Cruz, Koronadal City; Heredin Kamidon Kanakan, of Almonte Street, Cotabato City and Fatima Manampen Usman of Muntinlupa City while the identity of another victim was still being determined.

According to the initial report of the Maguindanao Provincial Police, the four victims were riding in a white multicab and were crossing the national highway when they were suddenly shot by unarmed groups waiting on the road past 3 p.m.

Various empty shells of 5.56 caliber pistol and 45 caliber pistol were recovered at the crime scene while three sachets of suspected shabu weighing 6-grams were also recovered from the victims.
