Family of slain PSO chief in Pangasinan cry for justice

The family of the chief of the Public Order and Safety Office of Calasiao, Pangasinan, who was shot by a riding in tandem, was in deep sorrow. Even the mayor of the municipality could not accept the fate of his staff whom he considered a close friend.

In a report by Russel Simorio on GMA Regional TV “Balitang Amianan” on Wednesday, it was said that Reynaldo Bugayong’s wake was in his house in Barangay Dinalaoan.

Bugayong was about to go to work on Tuesday morning on a motorcycle when the perpetrators who were also riding a motorcycle shot him in Barangay Lasip.

The victim sustained nine bullet wounds to the head and body.

The tragedy happened on the very day of one of his children’s birthdays.

“Nakita ko po yung mata ng daddy ko lumuluha. Tapos lumalabas yung dugo sa ilong niya. Sabi ko hindi deserve ni daddy yung ganung pagkamatay. Kasi po mabait yung daddy ko,” said Rhea.

According to the police, Mayor Joseph Armand Bauzon said that besides being the POSO chief, the victim is also the political leader and organizer of the mayor.

This is part of what authorities look for as a possible motive for the crime.

Bauzon, said that what happened to Bugayong, whom he considered a friend, hurt their family.

“Kung sino pa yung pinakamalapit na tao sa akin ganun pa ang mangyayari sa kaniya,” the mayor said. “He does not deserve this, no one deserves this kind of brutality.”

Meanwhile, the police released some CCTV footage showing the riding in tandem waiting for Bugayon in Dinalaoan and following him to Barangay Lasip where the victim was shot.

The special investigation task group-Bugayong has also been formed to focus on the case to arrest the perpetrators.

The authorities already have a person of interest but they refused to name them for now.
