Mother and daughter arrested for hacking minor’s social media account

A mother and her daughter were arrested in Manila for allegedly being involved in hacking the social media of a minor, according to a report by John Consulta in Unang Balita on Friday.

They allegedly extorted P10,000 for the victim so as not to spread her sensitive video.

The suspects were identified as Maricar Sena, who was caught in an entrapment operation, and her daughter Jingky Joy Sena, who is considered the main target by the authorities.

According to the National Bureau of Investigation, the 17-year-old victim was shocked when her Facebook account was suddenly hacked on April 8.

The suspects later contacted her and demanded P10,000 in exchange for not disseminating her allegedly sensitive video.

Jingky Joy apologized. She said she did not know why she committed the crime.

According to Maricar, she did not know that the money her daughter was taking at the remittance center came from extortion.
