CA fake building inspector was arrested after he attempted to extort 10,000 pesos from a woman who was building a new home.
Police say that 78-year-old Reynaldo Robles of Tondo, Manila attempted to extort Carolina Patawaran, prompting the her to seek help from barangay officials.
Once confronted, Robles was discovered to be wearing a fake Quezon City Engineering Office ID.
After his arrest, police also found a fake ID from the Caloocan Engineering Office.
Robles will be charged with usurpation of authority before the Caloocan City Prosecutor’s Office.
Police say the entire incident happened after Robles confronted Patawaran about possessing a building permit- she did not, as she was building the house on government land – Robles then asked for 10,000 pesos to “clear everything up.”
Regional police noted that the suspect was recently arrested for the same office by a barangay watchman, but was released after reaching a settlement with the complainant.
On a funny note, Robles had attempted to bribe his plaintiff with offering a 500 peso bribe not to press charges against him.
