Facebook Opens New Office in Bonifacio Global City – www.plnmedia.com

Facebook has announced its official arrival in the Philippines. The tech giant has opened an office in Bonifacio Global City and will reportedly be hiring soon.

Managing director of Facebook Southeast Asia, Kenneth Bishop said: “Today marks a new milestone for Facebook in the Philippines and we are committed to driving innovation that helps Filipinos and businesses connect in more meaningful ways.”

In a company press release, Facebook also said: “With 91 percent of Internet users in the Philippines on Facebook, this is an unprecedented opportunity for business to connect with today’s mobile-first Filipinos.”

Facebook has appointed former business director for Samsung Electronics, Digs Dimagiba as head of the Philippines office.

In a statement, Dimagiba said: “The Philippines is a country that has seen a tremendous growth in connectivity in recent years, creating one of the world’s most highly engaged online populations.

“Filipinos on Facebook have 60 percent more friends than global average and send 30 percent more messaging when compared globally.”

Company execs said that the Philippines is a priority market seeing as 49 million Filipinos are using the online service every month, 27 million of those are using it daily.
