Facebook, Instagram and WhatsApp services interrupted

Many Filipinos were shocked around midnight earlier because they could no longer open Facebook, Instagram, and WhatsApp. It’s all owned by the Facebook company.

Only a blank screen appeared on some users’ cellphone and ‘loading’ or taking a long time to open the app for others. But this outage is not limited to the Philippines. The loss of Facebook has also become headlines on many major news sites abroad. And according to some reports, millions of users are already affected.

In a statement on Twitter, Facebook apologized. But, they say they know that there are people who have trouble accessing their apps. He said they are fixing the issue and hope that everything will return to normal soon.

#Facebookdown, #instagramdown, and even the name of Facebook founder Mark Zuckerberg have become trending topics on Twitter in the Philippines. In addition, many Filipinos have expressed their views on the downtime of FB.

According to Twitter user @VonSquared, he is affected because he can use FB and Messenger as lines of communication for educational and organizational purposes. If this continues, he said, the students will be further affected.

According to user @VinEspinosa, this is a significant obstacle to communication. Some people should be talked to but can’t. This is a big problem now that most rely on Facebook and Messenger.

Christopher Tirambulo is affected because he cannot chat and has difficulty accessing news and information.

Student Jedi Laudencia affected communication with classmates because they were supposed to have a group assignment but were forced to find another way to talk first.

If many are sad, some say that what happened to them was okay. According to user @RjayReyes16, he wasn’t too affected because there was an email, and it was still night. He said he just did YouTube and Tiktok, and Google Classroom for school work.

According to user @dianaraOhlala, it’s better this way. No misinformation, no propaganda, and fake news. I hope it stays this way until May 2022.
