Evacuation centers, evacuees increased due to Taal Volcano activity

The number of evacuation centers and the number of evacuees in Batangas has increased amid the activity of Taal Volcano.

According to a report by the Batangas provincial government, the evacuation centers have been raised to 27 from 23 to avoid overcrowding.

It is said that 1,218 families or 4,465 individuals are in evacuation centers from 1,044 families or 3,480 individuals.

Meanwhile, the amount of damage to fisheries and plantations due to the volcanic eruption reached P1.7 million.

It is difficult for fisherman Martin Ornales to make a profit because the movement is limited due to the pandemic. Furthermore, there are additional restrictions due to the volcano.

Ornales and other fishers sailed to Taal Lake to feed the fishes.

In the past 24-hour period, the Taal Volcano Network recorded fifty-five (55) volcanic earthquakes, including one (1) explosion-type , forty-four (44) low-frequency volcanic earthquakes, five (5) volcanic tremor events having durations of two (2) to five (5) minutes, five (5) hybrid earthquakes and low-level background tremor that has persisted since 08 April 2021.
