ECQ aid distribution in NCR cities begin

The distribution of aid in Metro Manila for those affected by the closure of businesses due to the limitation caused by enhanced community quarantine (ECQ) in the area has already begun.

The LGUs, on the other hand, are implementing their own health protocol to ensure that infection is prevented. At the same time, some LGUs are also taking some steps to promote or encourage their residents to get vaccinated against COVID-19.

In San Juan City, each barangay had a schedule for distributing aid, and beneficiaries had their own serial number based on the list used during the ECQ in April.

They also set up a satellite vaccination site at each distribution venue for beneficiaries belonging to the A2 and A3 priority groups who wish to be vaccinated after receiving assistance.

House-to-house assistance will be provided in Pasig City.

But Pasig Mayor Vico Sotto clarified that the city would be divided into bubbles, and distribution sites will be designated where aid can be obtained. They will also provide food packs for 260,000 families.

They will also coordinate the distribution of forms for the unvaccinated.

“‘Pag nag-house-to-house ang teams, meron pong mga sites na idi-divide natin ang lungsod ng Pasig to bubbles. So yung sites po, may konting pila po dun. Pero, sisiguruhin natin na minimal lang kasi small clusters lang po ito. Hindi hahaba ang pila, at magiging mas mabilis,” said Sotto.

Some local governments have steps in place to ensure that health protocols are followed while providing cash aid.

The system in Paranaque City is hybrid, where assistance can be given via e-wallet or face-to-face.

The local government has urged to make aid collection online only because of the threat of COVID-19.

According to Mayor Joy Belmonte, in some barangays in Quezon City, they provide stubs or, by batch, the distribution of aid.
