According to the Comelec, the presence of two Dutertes in the VP race will not confuse voters.
According to the agency, Duterte’s run will not confuse even if Davao City Mayor Sara Duterte-Carpio’s daughter will also run as vice president.
“Wala naman pong problema dahil pre-printed naman ‘yung balota natin. … Hindi naman … magco-cause ng confusion ‘yan because number 1 the first names are there and number 2 … they will be in the same column, but there will be no confusion,” they said.
This is after the substitutions or replacement of candidates in the national post this Saturday.
Duterte-Carpio started it by saying that she was supposed to run for mayor again but suddenly changed the candidate for vice president of Lakas-CMD, Lyle Uy.
The camp of presidential aspirant Bongbong Marcos immediately announced that they would take Duterte-Carpio as a tandem.
Sen. Bato dela Rosa withdrew from the fight as the PDP-Laban candidate while Sen. Bong Go from his VP bid but under the Dugong Dakilang Samahan in place of Grepor Belgica.
The current president may run for vice president based on a statement by Communications Secretary Martin Andanar.

In a statement issued by the PDP-Laban Cusi wing, they admitted that the still unresolved issue of the PDP-Laban leadership pushed Go running for the smaller party.
“We don’t want the candidacy of Bong Go harassed and hampered by the pending Comelec case regarding PDP-Laban. We don’t want the opposition to use that pending case for propaganda against Bong Go,” they said.

For political analyst Edmund Tayao, the democratic process is collapsing after a series of substitutions.
“Whatever is left in democratic processes nae-erode kasi nga bawat personalidad merong ambisyon. Ganun din wala kang tulak kabigin d’yan,” said Tayao.
“Hindi magkaroon ng common candidate ang opposition ngayon nakikita natin sa administrasyon yung away na ‘yan,” he added.
