Duterte also offered help to the Aquino family in their grief.

The two he followed in Malacañang – former President Joseph Estrada and former President Gloria Arroyo – sent separate messages of condolence.

Arroyo said that apart from Aquino’s achievements for the country and the people, he will be remembered as part of the family that contributed three important people to Philippine history. Arroyo identified former Sen. Ninoy Aquino and former President Cory Aquino.

Estrada said he was saddened by Noynoy Aquino’s passing and prayed for him, even for the orphans.

“My sincere condolences to the Aquino family. Sa pagkakataong ito, ang aking tanging dasal ay bigyan kayo ng Diyos ng lakas ng loob. Paalam, PNoy!” said Estrada.

Vice President Leni Robredo also extended her condolences, while former VP Jejomar Binay tweeted his condolence message.

He said that even if they had some differences in the politics of the late president, he said they would not lose their family’s friendship for several years.

“Noynoy and I may have had political differences during the last few years of his term, but that will not diminish the many years of friendship between our families,” Binay said.

“My deepest condolences to the family. Godspeed, Pareng Noy,” Binay said.
