President Rodrigo Duterte vowed Tarlac killer cop Police Senior Master Sergeant Jonel Nuezca would be jailed after watching the video of the mother and her son’s killing in Paniqui, Tarlac, on Sunday.
Duterte said Nuezca must be crazy, adding that the crime was too brutal.
“Topak… Ewan ko ba’t nakalusot [he’s crazy…I don’t know how he got through],” Duterte said of the policeman.
“Pakainin niyo ng COVID ‘yung ulol na ‘yun [Feed that fool with COVID],” he added.
Duterte said the death of Sonya and Frank Gregorio was “too brutal.”
“From the time you are arrested up to the time that you are haled to court… walang bail ka. ‘Pag nahuli, diretso diresto na ‘yan, and I don’t think that you can escape the rigors of justice because nakuha sa TV. Pati ako napanganga,” Duterte said.
“Walang kwenta. That’s unfair and brutal masyado. Kung ako ang nandyan ewan ko lang,” he added.
Duterte also warned the government forces that they will lose his support if they break the law while performing their duties.
“You do it right, I’m with you. You do it wrong, and there will be hell to pay. ‘Yun ang sinabi ko sa aking SONA,” he said. “Your actions must be in accordance with the law. You do not follow the law… I’m sorry, that is not part of the agreement.”

Meanwhile, senators and other officials also condemned the killing of Sonya and Frank Gregorio.
“It’s time to remove this trick mirror that makes these police think they are all-powerful and untouchable. Nasa ilalim din sila ng batas. These rogues act like they are judge, jury, and executioner. They are not. Binabastos nila ang batas,” said Sen. Risa Hontiveros.
“If what’s on video tells the whole story, I enjoin the PNP leadership to show no mercy. They should spare no effort to make sure that he rots in jail. He’s the last policeman that they need in the force,” said Sen. Panfilo Lacson.
“I am disturbed that altercations like that in the subject incident could suddenly lead to deaths of persons. As soon as the local police has filed the appropriate charges, the prosecutor’s office will conduct a preliminary investigation to determine probable cause. The DOJ (Department of Justice) will closely monitor developments in this case and ensure that justice is done,” said Justice Secretary Menardo Guevarra.
