Duterte accepts resignation of Nayong Pilipino exec

Cabinet Secretary Karlo Nograles said Thursday that President Rodrigo Duterte already accepted the resignation of Lucille Karen Malilong-Isberto as Nayong Pilipino Foundation (NPF) executive director.

Isberto did not support the construction of a mega COVID-19 vaccination facility in the NPF land in Parañaque City.

“I don’t know under what particular details it was accepted, there’s a resignation from Nayong Pilipino director and it was accepted by the President,” Nograles said in an ANC interview.

Despite the opposition, Nograles assured the public that the construction of the vaccination site would continue.

“In every aspect of the project nandiyan ang DENR. Wala namang mga environmental concerns. It’s a reclaimed land, it is not being utilized, it seemed like an appropriate site in terms of accessibility. Wala namang tatamaan na mga puno diyan,” Nograles said.

“This mega facility is pushing through. A MOA is forthcoming. Minor technical details [are being ironed out] but it will be signed. [I’m] very very sure,” he added.

Malacañang said Tuesday that the proposed mega  vaccination site to be built at the Nayong Pilipino Foundation property in Parañaque City would be temporary.

“Iyong itatayo po doon sa Nayong Pilipino, ano po iyan, makeshift. Hindi po iyan permanente. Parang mga tents lang din po iyan, parang iyong ginawa rin na mga tent facilities para magamit na COVID  facility diyan po sa Nayong Pilipino na lupain din sa reclamation area,”  said when asked about the practicality of the project since there are existing spacious stadiums in the country.

(What we will build in the property is a makeshift structure. It is not permanent. It will be just like the tent facilities built serving as isolation facilities in the same reclaimed area.)
