DTI satisfied with health protocols implementation in cinemas

The Department of Trade and Industry has urged the public to plan their viewing in cinemas, which reopened this Wednesday in Metro Manila and other parts of the country.

According to Trade Undersecretary Ruth Castelo, she is satisfied with the cinema’s implementation of the health protocols laid down to prevent the spread of COVID-19.

“We encourage the viewers na umpisahan na nilang medyo magplano kung kailan sila manonood ng sine, lalo na kung nakikita naman nilang sinusunod ang mga protocol,” said Castelo who toured theaters this Wednesday to see if the rules were being followed.

“Alam mo ‘yong pakiramdam na safe ka sa loob ng sinehan kasi ‘yong operator o ‘yong may-ari ng sinehan ay sumusunod doon sa mga protocol,” she said.

While queuing at the cinema, spectators look for a vaccination card, but it can also be shown on a cell phone with an ID. There is also a QR code for the health declaration.

Inside the theaters, there is airflow and a one-meter distance between the viewers. The entrance and the way to the exit are also separate.

It is also possible to remove the face shield while watching, but it is forbidden to remove the face mask, and it is also forbidden to eat.

Cinemas have also assigned safety officers to check for violations of safety protocols.

There are also air purifiers in the cinema, and the facility is cleaned immediately before the next show.

Castelo, on the other hand, appealed to the viewers because the DTI would conduct random inspections.
“Kung puwede pagbigyan niyo na kami, kung makikita niyo kami sa loob ng sinehan habang nanonood kayo kasi kailangan nating siguraduhin na ligtas kayo habang nanonood ng sine,” she said.

Metropolitan Manila Development Authority Chairman Benhur Abalos also inspected theaters at a mall in Taguig City on Wednesday.

Of the mall’s four cinemas, only two are open to the public, and there are 45 minutes to 1 hour between each show to disinfect the cinema.

Malls that reopened theaters this Wednesday include Eastwood, Gateway, Glorietta, Greenhills, Lucky Chinatown, Powerplant Mall, Trinoma, Vista Malls, and Starmalls.
