DSWD: Cash allocation notice for ECQ assistance expected today

The Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) expects this Friday to hand over to local governments in Metro Manila the funds and documents for the assistance provided now that the region is under enhanced community quarantine.

“For the National Capital Region, we hope that the DBM (Department of Budget and Management) will issue na po ‘yung notice of cash allocation sa mga LGUs within the day,” according to DSWD spokesperson Director Irene Dumlao.

Dumlao said in an interview with TeleRadyo that the funds would not go through their agency based on their meeting on Thursday.

“Direct transfer na po to the local government unit and hopefully, with this procedure, mas ma-expedite po natin ‘yung distribution ng aid,” she said.

The LGUs, he said, will find ways to distribute the funds to their beneficiaries more effectively.

Malacañang announced Monday that low-income families in Metro Manila would get P1,000 to P4,000 cash aid once the enhanced community quarantine (ECQ) begins on August 6.

“Walang ECQ kung walang ayuda,”  Harry  said.

“Sigurado may ibibigay na P1,000 per person and maximum of P4,000 per family. Hindi pa lang sigurado saan kukunin,” he added.
