An alleged drug pusher from Cabanatuan City in Nueva Ecija province during a police drug buy-bust, 8:30 am Tuesday.
Authorities identified the suspect Mar Punzalan, who suddenly drew a handgun and shot a cop in Barangay San Pedro, said Police Captain Ronan James Eblahan, Lupao, Nueva Ecija police chief.
An undercover police officer brought a sachet of shabu (crystal meth) from the suspect.
Eblahan said the suspect missed and was eventually killed after police officers handling the operation fired back.
Cops seized P40-M shabu in Bohol
Police seized more than P40 million worth of shabu from five individuals in separate anti-illegal drugs operations last Monday afternoon in Bohol.
According to Police Col. Joselito Clarito, chief of the Bohol Provincial Police Office, authorities conducted month-long surveillance against suspected big-time drug syndicate members before the twin operation.
“This is the biggest confiscation of illegal drugs in the history of Bohol,” said Clarito.
The first operation was launched at 5:45 pm in Barangay Dampas District, Tagbiliran City, Bohol.
Police arrested Lelit Sinugbojan, 44, of Lapu-Lapu City; Chellomae Pescura Curayag, 34, of Inabanga, Bohol, Junalyn Abelgas Matora, 33, of Dauis, Bohol, and Humphrey Millana Cenabe, 33, of Inabanga, Bohol.
Two kilos of suspected shabu worth P13.6 million were seized from the four suspects.
After about an hour, cops conducted a follow-up operation and arrested 44-year-old Jaime Auxtero Dajao in Barangay Tanghaligi, Talibon, Bohol.
Police seized four kilos of suspected shabu with an estimated amount of P27.2 million from Dajao. Illegal drugs are wrapped in tea bags.
“Based on the wrapping, we can deduce that these illegal drugs came from a triad,” said Police Brig. Gen. Albert Ignatius Ferro, chief of the Police Regional Police Office Central Visayas.
Businessman killed in Bacolod shooting
Randolf Domingo parked his vehicle on the side of the highway to urinate at a nearby gas station, but a gunman approached and shot him.
The 38-year-old businessman is dead on the spot.
Apart from possible business disputes, police are also investigating whether the killing is related to the illegal drug trade, according to Lt. Jonito Pastrana, Police Station 9 commander.
The victim was only released in October 2019 on a drug-related charge.
Police are also investigating whether the victim was involved in the carnapping case based on his wife’s statement.
