If vaccine coverage, adherence to health protocols, and detection to isolation in Metro Manila do not improve, there may be 330,000 active cases of COVID-19 in Manila. That is based on a projection by DOH and FASSSTER if the Modified Enhanced Community Quarantine will be implemented in six weeks in the region.

On the other hand, 75% of the aid for those affected by the Enhanced Community Quarantine in Metro Manila has already been distributed, which is why 8.4 million beneficiaries are said to be benefiting from it, said presidential spokesperson Harry Roque.

The Food and Drug Administration has approved the emergency use authorization of Russia’s “one-shot” COVID-19 vaccine Sputnik Light.

COVID-19 has already affected 209.87 million people worldwide, according to the latest data from the World Health Organization. Of that number, 4.4 million people died.

Meanwhile, the number of new COVID-19 cases recorded in the country per day is likely to hit 20,000, according to a group of experts.

“‘Yong 20,000, mukhang very possible na maabot natin iyan within the next two weeks. 20,000 cases in one day. Itong 17,000 na nakita natin 2 days ago, hindi pa iyan ‘yong pinakamataas, hindi pa iyan ‘yong peak,” said Guido David of the  Research Group, a group of professors conducting the study on COVID-19 data.
