DOE ensures no power interruption in Election 2022

The public should have nothing to worry about when it comes to the power supply in Election 2022, according to Department of Energy (DOE) Secretary Alfonso Cusi.

Cusi said there was an adequate power supply, especially during the election.

“Makikita natin sa initial forecast na ito na sapat ang supply, walang yellow alert. Kita po ninyo walang lumalampa — bumababang green bar doon sa yellow line at wala rin pong power interruption dahil sa supply…Sa madaling salita ginagawa po lahat natin upang masiguro na may enough supply tayo ng kuryente sa darating na halalan sa 2022 and beyond,” said Cusi Thursday night.

To do this, he said, the entire energy sector is preparing for several scenarios that could affect energy supply, such as natural gas restrictions, forced outages, maintenance adjustments of power plants, demand for interruptible load programs, and others.

He said the government also has partnerships to increase the energy supply.

These include the partnership promoted in Japan in partnership with the private sector to develop liquefied natural gas facilities in the country.

Moreover, he said the DOE is still studying the use of nuclear energy and the potential use of hydrogen.

Meanwhile, the DOE assured support and assistance in the implementation of lockdowns now during the pandemic.

“Siniguro din po ng DOE na patuloy ang operation ng power sector to provide much needed economic support during lockdowns… Katulad po ng no disconnection policy, extended credit given to the consumers, and the business continuity program required from all installation to make sure that delivery of services is not interrupted in case of COVID infection in the installation,” said Cusi.
