Representatives of Mendel University in the Czech Republic visited Negros Occidental and explored the possibility of a partnership with the Provincial Government for various programmes related to forestry.
The group visited the region on March 16, visiting Governor Alfredo Maranon Jr. and others involved in the partnership agreement.
The Czech group is looking for partner-organisations in the province for its plan to send exchange students in the field of forestry and wood technology.
Several colleges coordinated with the group, as many schools in the Philippines offer a forestry programme. The partnership would benefit the introduction of new technologies – some believe it may boost tourism.
The Czech Republic group also noted their interest in the first ‘Bird Festival’ which the province will hold this coming November.
