Cybersex den raided in Quezon City; 16 arrested

Optical Media Board (OMB) personnel arrested the 16 suspects in an alleged cybersex den in Quezon City Tuesday.

According to Atty Cyrus Valenzuela, Optical Media Board chief legal officer, their first tip was that an illegal business process outsourcing (BPO) involved in piracy was operating on the second floor of a building along Tandang Sora Avenue, Quezon City.

But when OMB raided the office, they discovered a cybersex den.

“We conducted an inspection tonight kasi gabi sila nagbubukas and we found out, we were expecting na BPOs since OMB kami we wanted to find out kung mayroon silang mga valid licenses ng softwares nila, pero ang inabutan namin they were conducting cybersex operations,” said Valenzuela.

They discovered that this business uses messaging apps and online dating apps to offer obscene photos, massage services, and other services.

“Once nagbook ang client nakukuha nila lahat ng credit card information tapos kapag may nagreklamo bakit ako nakaltasan, wala pa naman ako naa-avail, may naka-ready sila na sagot, mga set answers na ‘Sir baka may problema sa bank ninyo, baka you need to re-enter iyong details ninyo’,” Valenzuela explained.

“Basically nakita namin na nakuhanan na nila, mayroon pa silang certain words na ginagamit para utuin pa para gamitin ang credit card uli,” he added.

OMB also saw the list of customers that the group has contacted on their computer, and most of them are foreigners.

The business did not show a business permit, and OMB also found that the name registered with the Department of Trade and Industry was different.

The specified manager of the cybersex den declined to comment as some of the late employees said they could no longer find another job, so they just entered it.

OMB plans to file charges against those arrested for violating Republic Act No. 9239 or the Optical Media Act of 2003.
