Earlier curfew, quarantine pass will be enforced on Metro Manila ECQ

Earlier curfew and use of quarantine pass are some of the things that will be implemented in Metro Manila’s enhanced community quarantine (ECQ).

According to Metropolitan Manila Development Authority Chairman Benhur Abalos, in conjunction with the implementation of the ECQ from August 6 to 20, the curfew will be enforced from 8 pm to 4 am in Manila.

Local government units (LGUs) will also issue quarantine passes to control the number of people leaving their homes.

When it comes to the liquor ban, the LGUs have the liberty to decide.

“So far may mga LGUs kasi na nagsasabi na wala silang liquor ban, kamukha ng Makati, ng Taguig, Pasig, at Las Piñas, at nakikita naming ang Valenzuela, ang Mandaluyong, Parañaque, Pasay, Navotas, Pateros, Quezon City at San Juan, may mga liquor ban,” said Abalos.

According to the Department of Interior and Local Government (DILG), nearly 2,000 policemen are scattered at checkpoints in Metro Manila to ensure compliance with social distancing and curfew.

This is in addition to the quarantine control points in Bulacan, Pampanga, Cavite, Batangas, Rizal, and Nueva Ecija.

It is said that up to 5,000 policemen will be deployed in the National Capital Region and the boundaries of the Calabarzon and Central Luzon regions.

“So ang paalala natin sa mga kababayan, magdala na tayo ng patunay na tayo ay [Authorized Persons Outside Residence],” said DILG Undersecretary Jonathan Malaya.

Presidential Spokesperson Harry Roque assured that help is waiting for the affected NCR residents.

According to Roque, cash assistance of P1,000 per individual or up to P4,000 per family has been confirmed.

But the people of the Department of Budget and Management are still discussing where the funds will be drawn for this.

“Sigurado pong ibibigay iyan. Ang hindi lang sigurado, saan kukunin,” said Roque.

Roque also warned that it is still possible to extend the ECQ if the beating of COVID-19 cases is not stopped.
