Curfew to be enforced Pampanga areas due to COVID-19

Authorities will enforce a curfew in some areas in Pampanga to prevent the continuous increase of COVID-19 cases in the province.

The Angeles City health office recorded 36 new COVID-19 cases on Tuesday. There were 269 active cases in the city.

The city has 2,405 confirmed cases since the pandemic last year. Of this number, 2,007 recovered while 129 died.

According to Angeles City Mayor Carmelo Lazatin Jr., patients are now filling the hospitals of Angeles, which is the COVID-19 hotspot.

“Ayaw naman po natin silang umuwi sa mga tahanan nila baka po kasi may mahawa pang iba,” he said.

In connection with this, the city re-enforced the curfew from 11 p.m. until 5 a.m. starting Wednesday.

“May maapektuhan ho na mailan na negosyo, it’s a step we need to take. Ayaw man po natin pero mapipilitan po tayo kasi katulad nga ng sinabi ko, mahirap naman po na dadami pa po ang kaso ng COVID-19 sa Angeles,” said Lazatin.

During the 2 -week implementation of the curfew, Lazatin ordered barangay officials to restrict the surveillance of their constituents.

“We do not encourage any social gathering except for family within the house,” he said.

The operation of gyms, fitness studios, and sports facilities was also suspended. Bars, KTV, and JTV are allowed to operate until 10 p.m., but minimum health protocols must still be followed.

Regular disinfection of city hall and other public places. All barangay personnel in the city are also undergoing rapid tests.

In Magalang, Pampanga, 11 p.m. to 5 a.m. curfew starting this Tuesday.

Violators of the curfew will be fined P2,500 for the 2nd offense.

This does not include those with a medical need or emergency cases, those with employment, government officials and staff who had an official function at that time, food and medicine establishments, and the media.

Only one person per household will be allowed to go out to buy food, medicine, or other necessities.

Meanwhile, the four-day  has already begun in the declared critical zones in  due to the high COVID-19 case.

Six barangays were locked down from midnight Wednesday to Saturday.

Among the barangay lockdowns are Barangay 185 in Tondo, Barangay 374 in Sta. Cruz, Barangay 521 in Sampaloc, Barangay 628 in Sta. Mesa, Barangay 675 in Paco and Barangay 847 in Pandacan.
