COVID-19 rapid test kits sold online found in house in Parañaque

Boxes of COVID-19 rapid test kits allegedly sold online were seized from a house in Parañaque City.

The Criminal Investigation and Detection Group and Parañaque Police conducted a buy-bust in Barangay Don Bosco Tuesday afternoon.

Police Maj Merben Bryan Lago led the operation and found boxed rapid test kits inside the house. Police found out that the owner of the test kits was registered in Cebu but did not have a business permit from Parañaque City.

Upon examination by the operatives, the suspects, a 28 -year -old sales executive of the company and a 40-year-old female office clerk, did not show FDA approval or any certificate.

P1.2 million marked money, 250 boxes of antigen test kits with only 20 kits per box were confiscated. A total of 640 boxes of rapid test kits were confiscated where each box contained 20 kits.

Also seized from the area were 6 cellphones, computer sets, logbooks, and Wi-Fi routers believed to have been used in online transactions.

Aside from the test kits, a box of gun ammunition was also found.

The suspects and the CIDG-NCR contraband were taken to the District Field Unit in Camp Karingal for a more thorough investigation for filing the corresponding case against the company owner.

Over P4.4-M worth of marijuana destroyed in Cebu City

Some 11,200 marijuana plants discovered in the mountains of Cebu City were uprooted from the plantation Monday.

The plantation covers an area of ​​800 square meters and was visited by the police and the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency in Sitio Sampinitan, Barangay Tagba-o.

An estimated P4.48 million worth of fully grown marijuana plants were seized.

According to the 1st Provincial Mobile Force Company (PMFC) of the Cebu Police, one of their informants confirmed the planting of prohibited plants in the area.

In a joint eradication operation led by SWAT-PNP Drug Enforcement Group Special Operations Unit 7 with PDEA Regional Office 7, marijuana was also destroyed in the area after being inventoried.

Police said the plants were burned at the site due to the difficulty of bringing them down. They just brought some samples for laboratory examination.

The alleged planter, Boy Ardimer, was not caught but he is wanted and the case will still be filed.
