Authorities are said to be pursuing the couple’s escaped companions.

In March,  Teachers Party-list Representative France Castro urged the Supreme Court to investigate the “factory of search warrants” that was used during simultaneous police operations on Sunday that lead to arrests and killings of activists in Calabarzon.

Castro denounced the “Tokhang-style” operations, claiming that the Duterte administration has been using search warrants to set-up and plant firearms against progressive groups’ leaders and members.

Coins and tea distributed at the community pantry in QC

If most of the community pantry offers food, a pantry on Visayas Avenue in Quezon City offers coins and tea.

According to Karl Bartolata, organizer of the said pantry, their group started organizing community pantries that feature foods.

There they talked to some of those who wanted to donate but were ashamed to give because they could only offer coins.

He then thought of making a Coin-mmuni-tea pantry where people can donate and take coins for those who need their fare.

Anyone can take. They also offer tea such as lemongrass tea and iced tea from the Galaw ng Kalikasan group, to promote healthy living among the people, he said.

The pantry is usually set up every 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. This is the third day they have organized this pantry.
