A policeman shot and killed a suspected holdupper while conducting an Oplan Sita in Caloocan City, Monday night.
The suspect’s companion was also caught while another escaped.
According to Caloocan City police chief Noel Flores, police corporals Philip Tizon and Mark Jefferson Lopez were conducting an Oplan Sita at A. Mabini St. corner Guido 4.
The policemen confronted the three suspects aboard a motorcycle and asked them to step down.
According to Tizon, he was about to do a body search to the suspects when one shouted, “Tirahin niyo na” (Shoot him).
The suspect pulled his gun, but he was immediately shot by Tizon, according to Barangay 33’s closed-circuit television (CCTV) camera footage.
The suspect was rushed to the hospital but died immediately.
“Nakita ko ‘yung baril na inangat niya talaga. Kaya lang siguro mas mabilis akong bumunot sa kaniya kaya ‘yun ang nangyari,” said Tizon.
(I saw the gun he was lifting. So maybe I just pulled it faster so that’s what happened.)
According to Flores, they found the suspects were on their way to Manila to holdup victims.
The police recovered a gun and a motorcycle from the alleged holdupper.
