Concepcion, Tarlac records first Delta variant case

The town of Concepcion in Tarlac has already recorded the first case of the COVID-19 Delta variant, according to Mayor Andy Lacson.

He is a resident of Batibot, Brgy San Jose, and was identified as “Concepcion Delta Patient 1.”

Based on the Municipal Health Office (MHO) report of Concepcion, the patient was allegedly exposed to another patient who tested positive for antigen in Manila on July 21.

Since then, he has experienced fever, fatigue, headache, and sore throat until July 28.

He tested positive in the antigen test and in the RT-PCR test on July 30. It was confirmed positive for the Delta variant of COVID-19.

The patient was also admitted to Jose B Lingad Hospital in Pampanga on July 29 and discharged from the said hospital on August 9.

According to the report, the patient was also vaccinated with the first dose of Astrazeneca on May 21 and was not injected with the second dose.

According to Lacson, eight of Delta Patient 1’s close contacts were immediately captured by LGU-Concepcion’s contact tracers, which immediately underwent antigen swab test. It turns out that 5 of them tested positive for the virus, and three were negative.

“Lahat po sila ay kaagad na dinala sa isolation quarantine facilities ng Concepcion LGU,” said Lacson.

“Walang nagpositibo sa 2nd gen contacts ng naturang Delta Patient 1 maging ng mga naging close contacts,” he added.

The Provincial Epidemiology Surveillance Unit (PESU) will travel to Concepcion to examine the entire family of Delta Patient 1 today.

Lacson again called on his compatriots not to panic because the MHO immediately captured those who encountered Delta Patient 1 and quickly checked and brought them to the LGU-Concepcion quarantine facilities.

The mayor added that everyone should always be careful, especially in public places such as the market and other places where there are always many people.

As of August 23, the country recorded an additional 466 Delta variant cases. In addition, Delta variant transmission was detected in Metro Manila and Calabarzon. As a result, the tally of Delta cases now stands at 1,273.
