Iloilo City Hall and 6 barangays in the city have been temporarily locked down due to COVID-19 cases.
Starting Monday, the municipality will be under lockdown to allow disinfection of the building.
While the city hall is locked down, about 800 local government employees will undergo COVID-19 testing.
The barangays of Balabago, Calajunan, Calumpang, Dulunan, Quintin Salas and Sto. Niño because of the volume of COVID-19 cases.
He said the protocols against COVID-19 will be strictly enforced in the barangays.
The local government has already distributed food packs to the affected residents.
There are more than 900 active COVID-19 cases in Iloilo City after 49 additional cases were recorded on Monday, according to local officials.
Iloilo City is currently under modified enhanced community quarantine-the second most stringent of the government’s 4-level quarantine restrictions-and it will end on May 31.
Barangays in San Jose in Occ. Mindoro still under lockdown
Some barangays in the town of San Jose in Occidental Mindoro have been placed under stricter community quarantine lockdown due to the continuous increase in the number of those affected by COVID-19.
The total number of COVID-19 cases in their town has reached 401 since last year. There are currently 57 active infections yet.
“Nagsimula siya noong April, hanggang ngayon tuloy-tuloy ang pagtaas ng cases namin. Isang nakikita naming reason ‘yung pagsabay ng pagdami ng cases sa Metro Manila, ito kasing San Jose ay center ng commerce sa buong province. Saka pinakamarami rin population dito sa province natin, almost 150,000. Since sentro ng commerce mas marami ang naglalabas-pasok dito sa aming municipality,” said Dr. Lordivino Mesina, medical officer IV of San Jose Local Government.
As a result, Barangay Pag-asa was placed under enhanced community quarantine. The barangays of Caminawit, Labang Poblacion, and Barangays 5, 6, 7, and 8 are under MECQ. Barangays of Magbay, Mabini, Bagong Sikat, and Poblacion 1, 2, 3 and 4 are under GCQ.
Barangay San Roque is also set to be subjected to lockdown or ECQ.
