CIDG-7, DepEd investigate Cebu viral video of 'molested' female student

The Criminal Investigation and Detection Group in Central Visayas (CIDG-7) and Department of Education will investigate the Cebu viral video of male university students molesting another female student, Wednesday.

One of the suspects uploaded the video on Instagram’s “My Day” which disappears after 24 hours. However, some downloaded the video and circulated it on social media through Facebook Messenger.

The video showed four young men molesting a seemed unconscious female student in a car.

The suspect, also a student was seated on the girl’s left side. He was seen touching the victim’s exposed breast. The other student who was on the car’s front seat recorded the abuse. Their friends could be heard makings rude remarks.

The suspects were said to be enrolled in a university in Cebu City. Authorities have not yet confirmed if the students were drunk when the incident happened.

The university where the suspects and the victim allegedly enrolled in said they already have the four suspects’ names.

According to the university’s legal counsel, school officials have seen the Cebu viral video and ordered the Registrar’s Office to validate the names of students involved.

Police Brigadier General Debold Sinas, director of the Police Regional Office in Central Visayas (PRO-7), urged the victim to visit their office so they could give her assistance.

Meanwhile, Amaryllis Villarmia, DepEd 7 information officer said universities are not under their jurisdiction. However, universities are required to follow DepEd’s “child protection policy.”
