Christine Dacera’s family still believes she was killed

Christine Dacera’s family still believes that there was a crime in the death of the flight attendant despite the results of the Philippine National Police Crime Laboratory’s investigation showed that her death was due to “natural causes.”

In a report by Emil Sumangil on GMA News “24 Oras” on Wednesday, Atty. Jose Ledda III, the lawyer for the Dacera family, said that they will do everything to bring justice to Christine.

“We always base our moves and actions sa documents na hawak namin, but it doesn’t mean that the family counsel will not exhaust possible remedies para ma-seek ‘yong justice na hinahanap ng pamilya,” said Ledda.

“Ang accusation ng family is that there is a crime,” he added.

At noon on January 1, Christine was found no longer breathing in the bathtub of a hotel room in Makati City after checking in there to celebrate the New Year with friends.

The Dacera family believes Christine was abused and killed, something the girl’s friends denied.

A medico-legal report from the PNP Crime Laboratory dated January 11 submitted to the Makati prosecutor on Wednesday, stated that Christine died of a “ruptured aortic aneurysm” or rupture of a large vein caused by high blood pressure.

“Manner of death as homicide is ruled out in Dacera’s case because the aortic aneurysm is considered a medical condition. Rape and/or drug overdose will not result to the development of aneurysms,” the report said.

“Even overdose and ruptured aneurysm are two different conditions and cannot be both included as cause of death of patient,” it added.

It is also possible that Christine Dacera has had a condition for such a long time.

“If she did not die that fateful night, she will still die in any scenario that presents an activity that will increase her blood pressure strong enough to tear that aneurysm,” the report said.

The Makati prosecutor’s office is conducting an investigation to find out how Christine really died and if any crime has taken place.

The hearing will resume on February 3.
