Chinese New Year: Feng shui tips to welcome Year of the Metal Ox

The color red will be the highlight in the Year of the Metal Ox this Friday, February 12, according to a feng shui expert.

Hanz Cua advises, wear red clothes to attract luck and prosperity this Chinese New Year, and also use color on curtains and pillowcases at home.

“Ang red color is fire element, which is the money or wealth element… Sa feng shui po, ang pagsusuot ng kulay pula ay posibleng mae-enhance ang pera at kasaganaan,” he explained.

According to Cua, turning on the lights for the Year of the Metal Ox can also boost fortunes, as well as cleaning dishes, removing clutter, and filling containers of salt, sugar, and water.

He also suggested sprinkling kiat kiat and coins into the house, wearing polka dots, serving 12 kinds of fruit, and displaying a lucky charm ox inside the home.

Meanwhile, Cua also reminded the public that his tips are just a “guide” that must also be accompanied by diligence, perseverance, determination, and teamwork.

“Nasa inyong mga kamay nakasalalay ang inyong tagumpay,” he said.

Meanwhile, the Chinese New Year was quietly celebrated in Manila Chinatown in Binondo due to the pandemic.

The sale of lucky charms showing various Ox representations is still a trend today.

There are bracelets, car hangers, and other lucky items that can be purchased for P35 or more.

Apart from the lucky charms, the food will not be lost just like the tikoy that can be bought for P60 to P300. There are other snacks that can be bought as lucky items.

Unlike before with dragon dances, New Year’s greetings are simpler.

Vendors remind those wishing to visit Binondo to still follow the health protocols implemented.
