A Chinese man has been arrested after he attempted to deposit fake US dollars in a bank in Malate yesterday morning.

50-year-old Wong Kwok Ming, of Iris Tower, Tivoli Gardens, Mandulauyong City is being investigated by Manila Police for his part in the fake dollar currency.

Officials said that Wong went into the Land Bank in Malate around 9:20 a.m. and attempted to deposit 389 $100 US notes.

A 25-year-old bank teller examined the bills and found them all to be fake, he reported the matter to his manager who in turn sought the assistance of the local police.

After close examination, only two of the 389 notes were authentic.
