Children kill their father who tried to rape niece

A man was killed in Negros Occidental after his children beat him when he allegedly attempted to rape his niece.

Based on the La Castellana Police investigation, the victim’s wife said that her husband tried to rape their niece at their house in Barangay Sag-ang in La Castellana, Sunday night.

Police Capt. Ramel Bustamante said the victim’s wife said that she caught her husband doing something to her niece, so she stopped him.

But her husband got angry, so she called their three children and told them what their father did.

This caused the three suspects age 37, 26, and 18 to beat their father in the head using a wood, which led to the victim’s death.

According to the case investigator, the man had a nervous breakdown. He also allegedly hurt his wife whenever he had episodes.

The three suspects are currently under the custody of the police.

Helper arrested for selling myna bird

Authorities arrested a helper in Manila for selling endangered species myna bird, the city’s public information office said Tuesday.

In a Facebook post of Manila PIO, Arranque Market supervisor Ruth Almodovar said helper Jerry Salaguste sold the said animal for P10,500.

She added the buyer was supposed to return the bird because it was already weak.

“Ongoing yung inspection ng ating mga kapulisan noong oras na iyon, tapos nang ilabas sa compartment ng sasakyan yung hawla ng myna, nakilala ng pulis yung ibon,” said Almodovar.

“Sinundan nila yung may dala at pagkatapos ay tinanong kung saan nabili,” she added.

Police immediately contacted Almodovar’s office to conduct an entrapment operation against Salaguste.

Upon the order of Market Administration Office Director Zenaida Mapoy, Arranque Market staff temporarily closed the two stalls that are currently used by Mayet de Jesus.

“Bagama’t wala sa lugar si de Jesus sa oras ng nangyari ang bentahan, sinabi ni Almodovar na kargo niya ang lahat ng nangyayari sa loob ng kanyang puwesto kung kaya naman ay dapat isara ang kanyang tindahan,” Manila PIO stated.

Salagusto will face charges of violating the Wildlife Resources Conservation and Protect Act.

The myna bird was immediately turned over to the Public Recreation Bureau so that it could be taken care of better.
