Cavite governor: No need to probe Zoom sex scandal

Cavite Governor Jonvic Remulla said Friday there is no need to investigate the alleged Zoom sex scandal since the involved barangay chairman and treasurer already resigned from their posts.

“He resigned, that’s number one. The barangay (treasurer) resigned. What is there to investigate? What is there to prosecute? It was an act of two consenting adults, although they were both married. There is nothing to investigate. They resigned,” Remulla told ANC.

Remulla said he does not tolerate the behavior of the two local execs. However, he asks for an understanding of the officials’ families.

Jorge Magno, president of the Association of Barangay Captains (ABC) Dasmariñas, said that the barangay officials already resigned after engaging in the reported illicit act. He also noted that the barangay chairman apologized over the sex video.

Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) earlier said it would investigate the barangay captain and treasurer involved in the Zoom sex scandal in Dasmariñas, Cavite.

“Nakita ko ito sa social media na may ganitong kaganapan sa Dasmariñas, Cavite. This is very unfortunate dahil napanood ng mga ka-barangay nung mga miyembro ng konseho ng barangay yung nangyari at the same time nangyari pa sa loob ng barangay hall,” DILG spokesman and Undersecretary Jonathan Malaya told ABS-CBN’s Teleradyo.

Cavite governor: No need to probe Zoom sex scandal

“Kaagad agad pa-imbestigahan natin sa regional office kung ano yung mga posibleng violation nito dahil this is a conduct of unbecoming of a public official. Mayroong code of conduct of public officials, mukhang maraming nalabag na mga probisyon sa batas na ‘yun,” he added.

Brgy. Fatima 2 chairman Jesus Estil could be facing charges because of the Zoom sex scandal which happened inside the barangay hall while they were at a video conference meeting.

It was learned that Estil and all barangay officials of the city would have scheduled a zoom meeting to discuss COVID-19 cases in their barangays.

Estil thought that the camera of his cellphone was off, so he approached his treasurer, and they had sex while all the barangay officials of the city watch.
