Cavite Chief of Police Gunned Down Responding to Call of Duty

32-year-old Leo Angelo Cruz Llacer, the Senior Inspector of Cavite, was gunned down while responding to a report of an indiscriminate firing of a gun.

Senior Superintendent Jonnel Estomo, Cavite Police Provincial Office Director, said the prime suspect in the shooting was 32-year-old Romeo Panganiban Villaganas Jr, who led the scene during the shootout.

Llacer’s deputy, Inspector Edison Nieva Vitto, said Llacer was calling occupants of the house to come out when Villaganas shut the door and then shot the police chief from an open window.

The police team returned fire, killing Mando S. Luminog, who was inside the house with Villaganas.

Llacer was taken to the Asia Medics Family Hospital and Medical Center in Dasmariñas City, where he died hours later, while Luminog was rushed to the De La Salle University Medical Center, also in Dasmariñas, where a doctor declared him dead on arrival.

Estomo ordered a manhunt for Villaganas and vowed justice will be served.
