Catriona Gray, Pia Wurztbach send support to Rabiya Mateo

Former Miss Universe queens Catriona Gray and Pia Wurztbach sent their love and support to Rabiya Mateo the country’s bet ended her Miss Univers journey.

“Rabiya, we love you. Thank you for pouring your heart for the Philippines,” Pia wrote.

“We see your heart queen,” added the Miss Universe 2015.

Meanwhile, Miss Universe 2018 Catriona said she was “sending Rabiya all our love.”

“She made our country proud!” Catriona said and added, “11-year consecutive semi-streak Pilipinassss.”

, Philippines’ bet in the 69th Miss Universe ended her journey after the swimsuit competition.

Rabiya showed her fitness in her yellow swimsuit which believed to be a symbol of the sun that supposed to complete her national costume.

Rabiya Mateo was born by domestic partnership to an Indian-American father and a Filipino mother who later separated.[11] According to Mateo, she grew up in poverty. She attended Iloilo Doctors’ College as Bachelor of Science in Physical Therapy and graduated cum laude. As of 2020, Mateo was working in SRG Manila Review Center as a lecturer and review coordinator.

Rabiya Mateo said she became the breadwinner of the family at an early age.

“Since broken family kami, hindi talaga masaya ang buhay. I can say hindi siya smooth kasi maraming problems, especially when it comes to finances. That’s why at an early age, naging breadwinner ako ng family while being a full scholar. I was doing some modeling gigs just to earn  na pambaon ko lang,” she said.

According to Mateo, education was her way of fighting poverty.
