Officers arrived at an address in Midsalip town at 5.30am yesterday (Thursday, July 5) to issue an arrest warrant on gang leaders Ramon and Rondi Bantayan.

Senior Superintendent Fergen Torred said the gang noticed the arrival of the police unit and decided to fight it out. The other two casualties have not been identified, however, it is believed they are also members of the Bantayan family called Omie and Jomi. No police were hurt in the operation.

Sr. Supt. Torred said he was unable to positively identify the cult, but alleged that they were known to “feast on human liver”.

Speaking today, Chief Superintendent Billy Beltran confirmed that officers were serving warrants of arrest for murder against the Bantayans.

He said that the pair — believed to be brothers — were both listed as among the Top 10 most wanted criminals in the municipality of Midsalip.

Recovered from the suspects were homemade shotguns, calibre .45 pistols, assorted ammunition and bladed weapons.
