A call centre agent has been shot dead by two unidentified robbers inside a public bus in Makati City.

23-year-old Reena Ranchesca, of Tondo, Manila, was murdered after she refused to hand over her cell phone.

She was shot in the stomach and was taken to Makati Medical Centre where she died while medics were fighting to save her life.

The drama unfolded inside a Delta Transport bus travelling along EDSA near the corner of Ayala Avenue at 1am.

A witness told police that he was watching the bus television when he heard the victim, who was sitting at the back, shouting.

The witness said that when he turned around, he saw the victim struggling with a man, aged in his twenties, who was trying to take her phone. The woman was asking the robber to spare her phone and leave her alone.

“Puputukan kita!” the robber shouted. However, the victim continued to fight back, prompting another suspect to shoot her.

Afterwards, the robbers threatened the other passengers and forced the driver to open the door. Police have launched a manhunt to track down the suspects.
