Here comes the bride: Jobel Delos Angeles makes wades up the aisle to celebrate her big day.

A Filipina bride has won hearts across the world after she was pictured wading through floodwater on her big day in Bulacan province.  

Jobel Delos Angeles, aged 24, tied the knot with the father of her two children on Saturday (August 11) as tropical storm Karding — international name Yagi — and the southwest monsoon brought heavy flooding across much of Luzon island.

In a Facebook video shared thousands of times, Jobel is seem beaming as she trudges through brown floodwaters in her white gown and veil.

“Even if it floods or it rains, nothing can stop me. You only get married once, will you postpone it? I was marrying the man I love,” she told Agence France-Presse.

“My gown got wet and heavy but I told myself it was as if I was walking on a red carpet.”

The Philippines endures an average of 20 typhoons and storms every year.

As we reported yesterday, the latest has seen 54,000 residents fleeing the Metro Manila district of Marikina. Thousands more have been evacuated in Quezon City, Valenzuela, Manila, Malabon, Pasig and other parts of the northern Philippines.

Despite this widespread chaos, Jobel said she did not even consider postponing her big day, even after floodwaters entered the church in Hagonoy town.

It was also a double ceremony, with their five-month-old daughter being baptised after the wedding ceremony.

“We didn’t want a new schedule as we were already stressed out. Our hometown is really flood-prone,” she said.

“No car wanted to bring us to the church so I just rode a boat. We didn’t expect so many people would still turn up, even the entourage.”

Jobel said she had no regrets and was was delighted to have had “God’s blessing” on her seven-year relationship. “It is truly memorable. I am so happy. It shows the lesson that there are no what-ifs.”
