Boxer Albert Pagara arrested for rape

The Pardo Police Station in Cebu clarified that professional boxer Albert Pagara is still alive and in custody after being arrested for rape of a 14-year-old girl in Cebu City.

According to police, Pagara, 27, of Sitio Terra, Barangay Inayawan, Cebu City, on September 1, tried to commit suicide using a shoelace inside the cell but was stopped by his fellow inmates.

According to the Cebu City Police Office (CCPO), Pagara was arrested around 7:30 pm when the 14-year-old and Grade 8 student victim complained that she had been raped by Albert Pagara.

According to P/Lt. Col Wilbert Parilla, the deputy director of the CCPO, the victim fell asleep while watching over the suspect’s son and woke up when Pagara touched her private parts. Pagara allegedly removed her romper dress and licked the victim’s chest, and inserted his finger into her vagina.

He said the victim could not move due to fear. A few minutes later, the victim complained to her mother, who immediately reported to the police.

It was learned that the minor victim was the sister of Pagara’s live-in partner.
Pagara, on the other hand, denied the accusation and said he would rather take his own life than face embarrassment because of the rape case he allegedly did not commit.

On July 10, 2016, Pagara sustained the first-ever loss in his professional boxing career after his challenger Cesar Juárez of Mexico stopped him (knockout) in the 8th round, leading to Juárez’s victory in the main event of Pinoy Pride 37 in San Mateo, California.
