A bomb threat shortly suspended classes at four Cebu City schools on Thursday morning, a city official said.
City Councilor David Tumulak, the chairperson of the committee on disaster risk reduction and management, confirmed the incident to local media.
The affected schools were the Mambaling Elementary School, Cebu City National Science High School, Hipodromo Elementary School, and Abellana National School.
However, authorities confirmed the bomb threat was a hoax and ordered to continue classes at the said schools.
Tumulak said there were similar incidents in 2019 wherein pranksters used the same style of calling or sending text messages to targeted schools, informing officials that an explosive device is planted inside the campus.

Authorities believe that the same group was behind this morning’s bomb threat.
Though similar bomb threats had occurred several times, authorities said they take each incident seriously. They are also implementing a plan to track down the suspects.
Tumulak advised the public to stay calm in case of a bomb threat and immediately inform the authorities. He also urged everyone to help in building a case against suspects.
A bomb threat is defined as a threat to detonate an explosive or incendiary device to cause property damage, death, or injuries, whether or not such a device exists. All bomb threats are to be taken seriously.
