The Bureau of Immigration (BI) deported a Bahraini national convicted of rape and sex crimes in his country.
BI Commissioner Jaime Morente said 44-year-old Waleed Abdulla Hamad Alsendi, boarded a Gulf Air flight to his country shortly after noon on Friday, and was accompanied on his flight by three Bahraini police escorts who came here to fetch him.
Morente said the alien was expelled pursuant to a summary deportation order that the BI Board of Commissioners issued against him.
The Board also ordered that Alsendi be placed in the BI Blacklist to prevent him from re-entering the Philippines.
“He is now banned from re-entering the country for being an undesirable alien. His presence here poses a serious threat to Filipino women as he is a sex offender,” the BI chief said.
Records showed that operatives from the BI’s Fugitive Search Unit (FSU) arrested Alsendi at his residence in Dasmariñas, Cavite last February 23 on the strength of a mission order that Morente issued in response to the request of Bahraini authorities.
He is also a subject of an Interpol red notice that was issued two years ago.
BI deports convicted Bahraini sex offender
The public prosecutor’s office in Bahrain issued a warrant for his arrest after he was charged with sexual assault, and possession and distribution of pornographic materials.
Investigators alleged that Alsendi fled to the Philippines in 2016 after sexually assaulting a female victim in his apartment.
He had been detained at the BI Warden Facility in Camp Bagong Diwa, Taguig City before he was deported.
Last month, BI said an alien’s acquittal on a criminal case does not mean he can no longer be deported for violation of Philippine immigration laws.
This was emphasized by the BI when it ruled on the criminal case of a Swiss-Italian national who, despite his court acquittal, was ordered deported by the bureau for being an undesirable alien.
In a five-page order issued by the BI board of commissioners last May 28, the bureau ordered the immediate deportation of Alfred Josef Honegger, 67, who was found as an undesirable alien for intervening in the management, operation, administration, and control of a restaurant in Cordova, Cebu.
