A father killed his baby boy when he slapped him in the heat of a dispute with the father’s live-in partner in Brgy. Bagumbayan, Sta Cruz, Laguna, officials said.
Laguna Provincial Police Office Director P / Col. Eleazar Matta identified the victim as Daniel Timana, who is just a two-week-old baby.
The suspect, Robert Binaya, is now facing parricide charges.
Matta said Brgy. Kagawad Gregorio Medina at Che Belga reported the incident to the police at around 6 p.m. on September 17, though the crime happened about two days ago, at 4:00 in the afternoon.
Reports said the suspect and his live-in partner were fighting when the baby boy cried. The father turned his anger to the baby and slapped him hard. The suspect’s hand hit the baby’s nape.
Because of the blow, a blood clot has formed in the baby’s head, which resulted in his death.
Authorities identified the suspect as Shiela May, resident of San Roque, Sto Tomas, Batangas who will face kidnapping charges.
According to the police reports, the baby’s mother Analiza Aboy was shocked when she learned that her baby was already missing when she woke up on the dawn of Sunday.
The CCTV footage showed the teenager carrying the baby while escaping the house and walking away at around 4:00 in the morning.
After receiving the kidnapping complaint, Sto. Tomas immediately conducted an operation at Shiela May boyfriend’s house in Quezon City. However, they were not able to find the suspect there who said she would bring back the baby to his parents.
