An Austrian and his Filipina wife were arrested for human trafficking on Friday.
60-year-old Erwin Welhelm Gunther Matha and 37-year-old Waryn Leguin were arrested at their home in Florvel Subdivision in the region of Oton, Iloilo.
Police say the two are being charged after a complaint was filed by the local police’s Children and Women’s Desk. Both suspects have already been charged with violating Republic Act #10364 (the Anti-Trafficking in Persons Act).
The original complaint was filed by two ex-girlfriends of the Austrian. The complaint is said to relate to four individuals.
