Prosecutor’s office staff refused to give a statement in front of the camera.

He said Tan does not yet have a lawyer. The merits of the complaints filed against him, such as estafa, reckless imprudence resulting in multiple damages to properties, resisting arrest, and others, will be studied.

He was also offered a lawyer from the Public Attorney’s Office or PAO, but he refused.

Tan has been returned to the hospital, where he is being treated for a shoulder injury. The police were watching him there.

The suspect was involved in the estafa for allegedly not paying at the motel and fleeing, which resulted in the police chasing him from Quezon City to Manila.

According to Police Brig. Gen. Antonio Yarra, director of the Quezon City Police District, they also seized a sachet of suspected shabu from Tan.

Yarra added that they would also look at the psychiatric evaluation results of Tan, 38, who was also arrested in 2017 after a riot in the Manila Police District.

“Kung makikita mo sa video, talagang makikita mo na wala siya sa kaniyang sariling pag-iisip nung mangyari ‘yung insidente kahapon,” he said.

The suspect is currently being treated at a hospital for a shoulder injury. A policeman and a tricycle  were also injured in the incident.

According to the  City Police District, the suspect checked into a motel on Timog Avenue on Tuesday.

But when he checked out, he looked for the motel manager and asked for P20,000.

“Nung palabas na siya, hinahanap itong manager natin. At nu’ng magkita, humingi ng P20,000. Imbis na magbayad ay nanghingi pa siya ng pera,” said QCPD Station 10 chief Lt. Col. Alex Alberto III.

The manager was surprised, so he asked the police for help. But instead of making the arrest, Arvin Tan tried to hit the police car.
