Top Rank Promotions chief Bob Arum advised eight-division world champion, Manny Pacquiao, to either retire or fight against undefeated American boxer Floyd Mayweather Jr.

Arum wants to take care of Pacquiao, who has also been there at the peak of his career for decades.

Arum also has good words for Pacquiao’s personal life and good conduct.

“Pacquiao, I promoted him for many, many years. He’s an exceptionally good human being, really a fine guy, extraordinarily charitable and a delight,” said Arum.

Pacquiao came from a successful fight against Keith Thurman to win the World Boxing Association (WBA) welterweight crown in July.

“But he’s (almost) 41-years-old. And if you’re 41, you can’t take punishment. You can’t take blows like he did in the Thurman fight. Sure, he won that fight – but he took a lot of punishment. That punishment is going to have a serious effect on how he lives for the rest of is life,” Arum added.

Team Pacquiao has yet to make a final decision on whom to fight next.

On top of the list are International Boxing Federation (IBF) welterweight champion Errol Spence and World Boxing Council (WBC) welterweight king Shawn Porter who are set to fight on September 28 at the Staples Center in Los Angeles, California.

“If he gets Maywea-ther, do that fight and retire. If he doesn’t get Mayweather, he should retire. It’s not worth it for him to continue boxing,” said Arum.
