Arrested Pakistani sells abortion drug

Manila Police District-Special Mayor’s Reaction Team arrested Pakistani national after abortion pill named Cytotec was caught in his possession, Sta. Cruz, Manila.

Captain Edward Samonte identified the suspect as Nadeem Younas Rana, 32, resident of Belisarion Subdivision, Pulang Lupa, Las Piñas City.

According to the investigation, the MPD was conducting clearing operations at the corners of Rizal Ave. in Raon St. when an informant told them about the suspect who was standing by and was carrying Cytotec.

When the police approached and confronted Rana, there they discovered that he was in holding 400 pieces of Cytotec.

Rana admitted that he was supposed to meet with a female client who regularly buys Cytotec from him. The suspect did not disclose who supplies him the Cytotec.

Arrested Pakistani could be Cytotec supplier

In earlier reports, authorities also arrested on April 18 Elizabeth Franco, 64. Police recovered 176 pieces of Cytotec and two pads of methergine tablets worth P50,000 from Franco.

Methergine is a drug used to prevent postpartum hemorrhage, which usually occurs after abortion. Franco said earlier that her supplier was a Pakistani national.

Authorities still investigate if Rana was the supplier Franco told the police. Rana will face RA 3720, or the Foods, Drugs, and Cosmetic Act violation charges.
